Description
“HIN has been offering security services in the healthcare sector for around 25 years. Aware of the security weaknesses of the public Internet, they turned their attention to SCION technology a few years ago.
In order to offer even greater security for patient-doctor records, they set up the HVR network in collaboration with ANAPAYA and various Swiss providers, using the new SCION protocol, to continue to provide their service to the various players in the healthcare industry.
HVR has been active since the end of 2022, and currently some 15,000 doctors in Switzerland are using this new protocol without any physical installations in their practices. In the mid-term, the HVR network should have around 300,000 users, comprising doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other physiotherapy practices.
At present, the HVR network is only available to Swiss users. It could potentially be opened up to other external parties from neighbouring countries, but this will only happen if HIN authorises it.
A few words about the SCION protocol, developed in Switzerland at the ETH in Zürich, which aims to close the BGP protocol's weaknesses, which have been overtaken by the size of today's public Internet.
Swisscom took part very early on in the development of this protocol and took part in the first tests for the financial network (SSFN), which is now the largest SCION network in Switzerland. By the end of 2024, all banks in Switzerland will have to use this technology for their inter-bank exchanges.”
Swisscom would be honnored to do the coordination between HIN and ANAPAYA to present this subject to the Geneva Health Conference.
