Description
We are founding members of AHH, Association of Humanitarian Hypnosis. Based on our experience as hypnotherapists and our work in the humanitarian field, we have founded AHH. Through our work, we know that in the humanitarian context, there is a real need for “easy to learn” and “easy to teach” techniques for strengthening resilience and developing coping mechanisms to manage stress and emotions.
Our goal in this presentation is to familiarize the listener with the possibilities of hypno-imaginative techniques within a migration context and to show the possibilities of hypnotic stress relief strategy and emotion management techniques aiming to build bridges between emergency aid and long-term development efforts.
We train local humanitarian workers in the application of hypo-imaginative techniques, supervise them, and support them remotely in implementing these techniques. This training transforms these employees into key figures in providing support, particularly for migrants and refugees. A significant aspect of this approach is enabling these workers to pass on the techniques directly to migrants and refugees. This empowers the migrants and refugees to immediately use these methods independently, helping them to reduce stress, manage overwhelming emotions, and build resilience. Functioning like a snowball system, this method allows the techniques to be disseminated more widely and effectively.
The implementation of hypno-imaginative techniques in the context of migration has led to significant improvements in stress management and emotional regulation, while also promoting resilience-building and solution-oriented thinking. Particularly noteworthy is the effectiveness of these techniques in addressing gender-specific violence. They facilitate supportive intervention without stigmatization and strengthen individuals within their own cultural context. Our research findings underscore the crucial role of stress reduction and emotion management in enhancing resilience. They illuminate the diverse manifestations of these approaches and their significant positive impact on the resilience of both individuals and communities.
