Introduction - Objectives:
The project goal is to empower young people on sexual reproductive health and rights and environmental sustainability. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, and 13, it explored the intersectionality between health and environmental issues. The aim is to empower young people as sexual reproductive health facilitators and environmental stewards. The facilitator's responsibility is to reach other young people to improve their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values.
Methodology:
Ten young facilitators underwent comprehensive training, each responsible for mobilizing and training 30 peers. The 10 facilitators mobilized and educated 300 peers.
Activation sessions prompted actions like tree planting, recycling, and accessing sexual reproductive health services. The study assessed improved knowledge, transformed attitudes, and the impact of participant actions on health and environmental conservation.
Results and Discussions:
The project yielded improved youth knowledge of health issues, transforming attitudes and values regarding the interplay between health and the environment. Participants actively engaged in planting trees, recycling, and seeking sexual reproductive health services. Notably, the study highlighted the role of youth advocacy in prompting government investment to address intersectional issues in health and environmental sustainability.
Conclusions:
This initiative demonstrated the effectiveness of peer-led education in fostering positive behavioral change among youth. By addressing the nexus of health and environmental concerns, it contributes significantly to achieving Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, and 13. The outcomes underscore the pivotal role of youth in advocating for holistic government investments to create a sustainable and interconnected future.
